Friends Day of Giving 2022

GivingTuesday! Each year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, non-profits throughout the United States make an appeal for donors to consider their organization for year-end giving dollars.

Donate now!

This year, the Friends appealed to donors to contribute to the Friends of Flight 93 Education Scholarship program. The scholarship program, which was created approximately 10 years ago, provides monetary resources to schools to bring their students to the Memorial to learn about the events of 9/11 and specifically the Flight 93 Story

Ranger guided field trips to the Memorial are offered in the spring and fall of each year. During the 2022 school year, the Friends and the National Park Service hosted over 10,000 children through education scholarships with a budget of $75,000. The education scholarships are provided by the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial.

Field trips offer a unique learning experience for students of all ages:

  • In the Visitor Center, students learn about the passenger and crew members aboard Flight 93, the events of 9/11, and the Flight 93 story through exhibits and displays.
  • Weather and time permitting, students walk to the Memorial Plaza for a ranger led program.
  • From the plaza, students visit the Wall of Names and pay respect to the forty passengers and crew members.
  • Students can visit the Tower of Voices, a monumental ninety-three-foot-tall musical instrument holding forty wind chimes, representing the forty passengers and crew members.

The demand for field trips continue to grow, with your help the Friends will be able to continue funding education scholarships.

Watch our website and social media (Facebook, Instagram, & Linked-In) for our day of giving appeal. AND OUR AMAZING DONORS!

Over $55,000 went towards our Education Scholarship Fund goal of $75,000! We thank you; our students thank you and our teachers and volunteers thank you.

If you missed Giving Tuesday, there is still time to contribute. Donations to our education scholarship fund make it possible for students Grade 4-12 to participate in an on-site, ranger-led field trip. During field trips, students learn about the events of September 11, 2001, and the remarkable acts of bravery and courage of the 40 passengers and crew members of United 93.
